Hi Everyone,
I've come up with two versions of the criteria based
on your feedback. One is explanatory and the other is
simple and accessible. They both serve different
purposes and can be used differently. Those with
targeted lists can insert or link to the goods and
services they're boycotting.
I don't know what folks are thinking with all of the
discussions about splitting into groups and
consolidating into one site. I guess: those of you
who have sites and agree that having criteria is
important, please get back to me and we can refine
this together. (Don't mean to be exclusive at all --
this is in the interest of simplification -- anyone
else who has an opinion is welcome to chime in.)
One note: I'm having a hard time integrating expressed
concerns about the US's "selected" president into the
criteria. If anyone has ideas, let me know.
Thanks!
Kyeann
Simple:
How can we stop the war and prevent the next one? Make
the US a global player, not a global perpetrator!
Global citizens will boycott goods and services from
American corporations until the US:
. Ends its attack on Iraq.
. Lets Iraqis lead Iraq.
. Becomes a partner in:
. upholding international law
. banning weapons
. reducing global warming.
Keeps its military spending in line with other
nations’.
Explanatory:
The citizens of the world will boycott US corporate
goods and services until the US becomes an
international partner in maintaining a peaceful and
sustainable world community as determined by the
following:
· Ends its attack on Iraq.
· If it deposes Saddam Hussein, rather than
imposing the US-led opposition government, agrees to
institute the preferences of the Iraqi Leadership
Group: (link to info. below and leadership group)
o Freedom from a US-run post war Iraq
o The UN's help in appointing a representative
to run Iraq
o A transitional (non-US) government that will
prepare Iraq for democratic elections
o Peacekeeping overseen by the Iraqis’
preferred units.
· Ratifies the prominent and otherwise
universally accepted international accords on weapons
and global warming (link to information on Test Ban
Treaty, Kyoto, Convention Banning nuclear weapons,
biological and chemical weapons treaties)
· Renounces its preemptive doctrine (link to info)
· Officially ratifies the treaty authorizing the International Criminal Court
· Aligns its military spending with that of the other nations of the world.
